Liverpool to Help Fund Chiesa’s Atalanta Move – Report
Sportitalia claim Atalanta are ready to pay €12m for Italy international Federico Chiesa, with Liverpool prepared to cover a large part of his salary.
It is no secret that the former Juventus and Fiorentina winger is not part of the plans for this season at Anfield, having been left out of their pre-season training camp.
He managed only 14 competitive appearances for the club, scoring two goals and providing two assists, but managing a pitiful 466 minutes of football on the pitch.
Liverpool eager to get Chiesa off the books
Having arrived only a year ago from Juventus for €12m, Chiesa could be allowed to leave for the same sum for a return to Serie A with Atalanta.
Sportitalia claim that he could sign a three-year contract with Atalanta, but that Liverpool can help smooth over the move by paying a substantial chunk of his salary.
In turn, Atalanta would see the Italian as the replacement for Ademola Lookman, who is pushing for a transfer to Inter at €50m this summer.
Napoli and Milan are among the other Serie A sides showing interest in Chiesa.
