Oshoala Benched As Falcons Face Zambia Decider
Asisat Oshoala has been dropped to the bench as the Super Falcons go for broke in today’s 2024 WAFCON quarterfinal against Zambia with a very offensive starting XI.
Six-time African Player of the Year Oshoala has not been on top form in Morocco and has thus lost her Starting XI spot to Mexico-based Chinwendu Ihezuo, who has scored twice coming off the bench at this tournament.
Everton star Toni Payne has also been axed, while Jennifer Echegini and Esther Okoronkwo will start as coach Justine Madugu tries to get the nine-time African champions scoring goals again.
Otherwise, the defence of Osinachi Ohale, Tosin Demehin, Michelle Alozie, Ashleigh Plumptre and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie keep their places after keeping clean sheets in three group games.
Super Falcons Sarting XI vs Zambia
Nnadozie – Plumptre, Alozie, Ohale, Demehin – Ayinde, Echegini, Okoronkwo – Ajibade (Captain), Ihezuo, Ijamilusi
