Borussia Mönchengladbach have signed striker Haris Tabaković on a season-long loan from fellow Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
Tabaković, 31, will spend the 2025/26 campaign at Borussia-Park after struggling to break into the Hoffenheim team following his summer 2024 arrival.
The Switzerland-born Bosnia and Herzegovina international managed only three goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances, of which just six were starts as the Sinsheim club narrowly avoided relegation in 15th place. One of those goals came away at Gladbach in May’s 4-4 draw.
“Haris is an experienced forward who poses a goal threat. A real centre-forward, a guy who can immediately help us with his physical presence,” said Borussia managing director Roland Virkus.
Tabaković had moved to the PreZero Arena on the back of an excellent maiden campaign in German football, hitting 22 goals in 32 league outings for Hertha Berlin to finish as Bundesliga 2 top scorer in 2023/24.
Having come through at Young Boys in Switzerland, the striker enjoyed goal-filled spells across Europe with Debrecen and Diósgyőr in Hungary, then Austria Lustenau and Austria Vienna.
“I’m really keen for this new challenge and can hardly wait to play in front of the fans and feel the Borussia-Park atmosphere,” added Tabaković, who will join up with his new team at their training camp in Tegernsee on Saturday.
He will provide cover and eventually competition for Tim Kleindienst, who is out with a knee injury for several more months, as well as replacing Alassane Pléa following his move to PSV Eindhoven.
Gladbach begin their season at Atlas Delmenhorst in the first round of the DFB Cup on 17 August. Their Bundesliga campaign kicks off at home to newly promoted Hamburg the following Sunday.
