Musa Appointed Kano Pillars General Manager By Gov. Yusuf

In a decisive move aimed at repositioning Kano Pillars FC as a dominant force in Nigerian football, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has appointed former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa as the General Manager of the club.

The appointment, announced on Friday following the reconstitution of the club’s management board, reflects the governor’s strategic intent to blend administrative capacity with footballing pedigree.

The outgoing board had completed its one-year term, during which Kano Pillars finished 9th in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Tofa, the decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders and is rooted in a broader vision to restore the club’s competitive edge ahead of the 2025/2026 season.

“The inclusion of Ahmed Musa reflects our desire to blend administrative competence with football experience. We believe his presence will inspire players, attract investment, and rekindle supporters’ enthusiasm,” the statement noted.

Musa’s appointment marks a full-circle moment for the 32-year-old, who began his professional career at Kano Pillars before rising to international stardom.

His illustrious career includes stints at top clubs such as CSKA Moscow, Leicester City, and Al-Nassr, alongside 100 caps and 16 goals for the Nigerian national team.

Known for his leadership on and off the pitch, Musa brings to the role a wealth of experience in football management, global exposure, and an innate understanding of both local and international football dynamics.
His leadership is expected to elevate the club’s commercial appeal, strengthen its operational systems, and ignite grassroots development initiatives.

The newly reconstituted 17-member management board combines continuity with fresh energy. While Ahmed Musa assumes the role of General Manager, Ali Umar (Nayara) has been appointed Chairman of the board.
