IGCC Boosts Delta’s Tourism with Governor’s Cup Tournament
The Ibori Golf and Country Club (IGCC), Asaba, has continued to contribute meaningfully to the promotion of sports and tourism in Delta State, with the recently concluded Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament serving as another major milestone in that effort.
Speaking on the success of the tournament, the Club Captain and Director-General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Chief Patrick Ukah, said the event not only brought together golf enthusiasts and stakeholders from across the country but also showcased Delta State as a hub for sports tourism and leisure.
Chief Ukah noted that the presence of the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, at the tournament elevated the status of the event and served as a huge source of inspiration to participants and spectators alike.
“The Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament significantly boosted the profile of the Ibori Golf and Country Club and reaffirmed Delta State’s commitment to sports development and tourism,” Ukah stated.
He expressed deep appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for his gracious acceptance to serve as the Grand Patron of the Ibori Golf and Country Club, describing the gesture as a remarkable milestone in the Club’s history.
“We are incredibly honoured and excited to have His Excellency as our Grand Patron. His support and leadership will go a long way in enhancing the growth of golf in Delta State and encouraging youth participation in the sport,” he added.
Chief Ukah also thanked the Governor for his financial support, which he said was instrumental to the success of the tournament. He described the Governor’s commitment to sports as a strong testament to his vision for a vibrant, inclusive and prosperous Delta State.
“As a Club, we are committed to using the game of golf to foster unity, nurture talent, promote healthy living, and drive tourism and business. With the continued guidance of His Excellency, we are confident that the Ibori Golf and Country Club will soar to greater heights,”
Chief Ukah affirmed.
He expressed the Club’s readiness to work closely with Governor Oborevwori to further position Delta State as a premier destination for sports tourism in Nigeria.
