Super Eagles Veteran Hails Super Falcons After Ghana Win
Super Eagles longest-serving center-back Kenneth Omeruo has congratulated the Super Falcons for their 3-1 win over Ghana in their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations preparatory fixture on Sunday, Soccernet.ng.
Nigeria, once again exerted their dominance in the Jollof derby when both teams met in Morocco.
It was a game that coach Justin Madugu was supposed to use to ascertain the preparedness of his women for the WAFCON, and they proved to be rock solid.
Goals from former Barcelona star Asisat Oshoala, Chinwendu Ihezuo, and captain Rasheedat Ajibade ensured that Alice Kusi’s goal was merely a consolation goal.
The win ensures that Nigeria’s dominance over Ghana in the jollof derby has been extended to three games for both Super Eagles and Super Falcons.
Following the Super Falcons victory, Super Eagles defender Omeruo congratulated the nine-time African champions on social media.
He posted a picture of the team on Instagram and captioned it, “well done girls.”
Next up for the Super Falcons is the 2024 WAFCON proper. Madugu’s women will begin their campaign on July 6 against Tunisia. Then, they will play Botswana and Algeria next.
They will be hoping to go far in the tournament and claim that record–extending 10th WAFCON title in Morocco
