Lampard Backed For PL Return After Coventry Impact
Lampard guided Coventry into the play-offs last season, transforming their results when he took charge at the CBS Arena
Frank Lampard has done an “incredible” job at Coventry City and could take them back to the Premier League.
That’s the view of Asmir Begovic, who played under Lampard when he was in charge at Premier League Everton
Lampard guided Coventry into the play-offs last season, transforming their results when he took charge at the CBS Arena last November.
The Sky Blues bowed out of the play-offs in the semi-finals to eventual winners Sunderland, but Lampard’s side will be among the clubs tipped to challenge for promotion to the Premier League once again when the new campaign kicks off.
“Frank Lampard has done an incredible job with Coventry, he got them into the play-offs and got them so close to the play-off final,” said Begovic, speaking to Fruity King.
“As a player and a person, he always gains immediate respect.
“Players really buy into it but I think in the Premier League he has needed a bit more time to get that across.
“In the Championship he has more leeway and can show his managerial qualities.“Working with him was a pleasure, I really enjoyed it. From that point of view, it’s great to see him have success.
“I’m not surprised at it. Hopefully, with a bit of luck, maybe he could kick on Coventry again this year and go one step further.”
Coventry have made their first signing of the summer, agreeing a deal for defender Miguel Ángel Brau, subject to international clearance and a work visa.
