JOF Nigeria Limited Celebrates Football Legends, Promotes Grassroots Development

JOF Nigeria Limited, a leading supply chain and manufacturing company, recently hosted some of the Ex-International Soccer Stars at its corporate headquarters on Kudirat Abiola Way in Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to Dr. Olusegun Olugboyegun, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of JOF Nigeria Limited: “As Nigerians, we have a deep love for football, and it’s only befitting that we celebrate our national team legends while they’re still with us. The recent passing of Super Eagles captain Christian Chukwu, affectionately known as ‘Chairman,’ touched my heart, and I began thinking about the living legends who have made significant contributions to Nigerian football, such as Henry Nwosu, MON, Waidi Akanni, and others.

“These great ambassadors of Nigerian soccer have been incredibly supportive of our efforts in grassroots soccer development, particularly in sponsoring and promoting the JOF Under-13 soccer tournament over the past years. I felt it was necessary to host these wonderful men to appreciate their efforts and the value they bring to the sport.”

The event brought together football legends, including Waidi Akanni, Henry Nwosu, MON, Godwin Okpara, Benson Edema, Friday Elaho, Fatai Amao, Loveday Omoruyi, Monday Kanu, Wasiu Ipaye, Emmanuel Davis, and Mba Agbai, among others, to celebrate their contributions to Nigerian football.

During the well-attended cocktail dinner with the executives and friends of Jof NigeriaLimited, Dr. Olusegun Olugboyegun was appointed The Patron of The Lagos State Soccer Legends Club and decorated with a jersey by its chairman, Alhaji Waidi Akanni.

In addition, Dr. Olugboyegun and his wife, Bola Olugboyegun, received Super Eagles legends jerseys in recognition of their love for Nigerian soccer.

Notably, JOF Nigeria Limited has been promoting grassroots football development since February 2020 through its annual Under-13 soccer tournament.

The 6th edition of the tournament was recently held at the University of Lagos sports arena on May 26th. Dr. Olugboyegun emphasized that football is a unifying force that transcends borders and generations, fostering unity and love.

He called on the government, corporate organizations, and individuals to support and celebrate Nigeria’s football legends, thereby encouraging future generations of stars.

The ex-international footballers in attendance praised JOF Nigeria Limited for the celebration and recognition extended to them.

Ex-soccer legend Fatai Amao expressed his admiration, saying, “We were excited by the invitation, and the king-size hospitality during the cocktail dinner was of high standards. May God reward Dr. Olugboyegun threefold for his good deeds.”

In a serendipitous moment, the birthday of Waidi Akanni coincided with the cocktail dinner, and he was jointly celebrated by everyone in attendance.

By hosting this event and supporting grassroots football development, the company aims to create a lasting impact on the sport and inspire future generations of football stars.
