Maurizio Sarri is reportedly set to remain in charge of Lazio, despite rumours suggesting the head coach was set to leave the club only three weeks after returning to the Italian capital.
Sarri only returned to the club officially on June 2, 2025, but chaos in the transfer market led the Italian press to speculate about the coach’s future. Reported discontent stemmed from the club’s financial concerns, despite the club issuing an official statement last week claiming there was nothing to worry about.
According to what has been reported however by Sky Sport this evening, Sarri looks set to stay in charge at the Biancocelesti. The Italian coach met with club sporting director Angelo Fabiani today to discuss the tensions but the reports indicate that it was a positive meeting.
What next for Sarri and Lazio?
Now, Lazio must move quickly to salvage their summer transfer window. Due to the concerns still surrounding the club’s finances and a potential transfer embargo, a sense of urgency is required.
In the last few days, Loum Tchaouna edged closer to a €14 million move to Premier League club Burnley and there are still questions surround the future of players such as Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli.
Player sales may help the club balance their cash flow issues but it seems as if president Claudio Lotito must also lend a hand – putting his own money into Lazio to raise capital.
