Inzaghi Thanks Inter For ‘Four Wonderful Years’
Simone Inzaghi has thanked Inter for “four wonderful years” after leaving the club to take up a role at Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
Speaking from the Club World Cup, via TMW, Inzaghi talked about his new club but also took the time to appreciate the Nerazzurri and their fans for his time with the Serie A side.
When asked about his new job, the former Lazio head coach said “I’ve just started! I’d been in Saudi Arabia for a week and then we’ve been here in the U.S.A. for ten days. I’m settling in well – I’ve found a club that really wanted me and they are supporting me in every possible way, both on and off the pitch.”
Al-Hilal are competing in the Club World Cup with Inzaghi leading his first match with the club in 1-1 draw with Real Madrid. On Sunday evening, the Saudi club drew once again, this time with Austrian club RB Salzburg. This leaves Inzaghi’s side with it all to do in their final group stage match – needing to beat Mexican club Pachuca to have a chance at qualifying for the knockout stage.
Inzaghi on ‘four wonderful years’ at Inter
On the decision to leave Inter for Al-Hilal, the Italian said that “It was the right time for this kind of experience – I’m very satisfied and confident. I believe I will have some great moments with this team.”
Inzaghi left Inter after a humiliating Champions League final saw the Nerazzurri beaten 5-0 by Luis Enrique’s PSG. This meant the end of four years for the head coach at Inter after joining the club from fellow Serie A club Lazio in 2021.
Speaking on Inter he admitted “I haven’t watched their matches [at the Club World Cup] but I think my feelings for the club are clear to everyone. I had four wonderful years there and have only great memories of the city, Inter, the fans and the club.”
Inzaghi won the Scudetto with the Nerazzurri in 2023-24 but sadly missed out on continental glory, losing two Champions League finals – in 2022-23 and 2024-25.
