Osimhen Is The Answer For Goals, Says Ogunmodede

Super Eagles’ assistant coach, Daniel Ogunmodede has added his voice to an ongoing debate about the next port of call for in-form top striker, Victor James Osimhen, with a verdict that any club that wants a rain of goals in the coming season should go for the Nigerian star.

Sports247 reports that, as it was last year, another thorny transfer saga is unfolding around Osimhen, with different speculations hinting at where he will ply his trade in the coming campaign and how much his switch would cost, but nothing concrete has come out of it all.

In adding his views to the raging matter, Ogunmodede, who is also still the substantive coach of Nigeria’s new champions, Remo Stars FC of Ikenne, stressed that Osimhen is worth all hype unfolding round him and every serious minded club should break the bank to get his signature.

Ogunmodede declared, “When you talk about the issue of Osimhen, you may say clubs are afraid of raising the bar. For me, though, he is worth all the money being put on him.

“If there’s another player that would do the same things next season that Osimhen did this season, if we have another striker who can score 50 goals, they will break the bank for him.”

He then ruled out alleged bad attitude being fingered as a reason why top clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid of Spain, Manchester City of England or Paris-Saint Germain of France are not running after Osimhen, with a view that some of the best players in history were more difficult to control than the 2023 African Footballer of The Year.

Ogunmodede chipped in, “I’ve heard a lot of comments complaining about his attitude, saying he’s this or that. But, in my coaching journey, I’ve learnt about man-management. The Europeans preach a lot about management.
“(Mario) Balotelli had greater problems, yet Man City bought him at an exaggerated price. So, why not Osimhen? They should just go for him at any cost.”

He concluded by butressing the need for top clubs to seek a way towards hooking Osimhen’s signature in the summer transfer window, considering that the 26-year-old hitman has been able to deliver goals consistently since his days at Racing Charleroi of Belgium, Lille Metropole of France, SSC Napoli of Italy and now Galatasaray of Turkey.

“Osimhen is doing great things. So, they should buy him. He has done unimaginable things consistently. He did it at Napoli and now with Galatasaray.

“For me, even if Madrid should break the bank for him, he’s worth it. It’s as simple as that! He’s a striker. Has he done his job? Yes! So, any team that actually wants to get a lot of goals in the coming season should go for Osimhen,” Ogunmodede affirmed.
