Babajide Thrilled By Super Falcons Call-Up
Rinsola Babajide has expressed her elation after receiving a maiden call-up to represent Nigeria at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), marking a major milestone in her international career.
The 27-year-old winger, who previously played for Brighton & Hove Albion, is one of 11 debutants named in the Super Falcons squad for the tournament. This will be her first appearance in a major senior international competition for Nigeria, having previously featured for England at youth level before switching allegiance to her country of origin.
Taking to social media to share her excitement, Babajide wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“Guyssss, I’m going to my first senior major tournament!!! It’s the greatest honour knowing I’ll be representing my country at the African Cup of Nations!! Thank you for all the love & support up until this point! God did @ngsuper_falcons.”
Her heartfelt message quickly garnered attention and praise from fans and teammates alike, as she joins a talented Super Falcons side aiming to reclaim their continental dominance in Morocco.
Babajide’s inclusion adds attacking flair and pace to Nigeria’s squad, and her enthusiasm reflects the hunger and drive the team hopes to harness as they chase their 12th WAFCON title.
