Barca’s Main Target Sets Conditions
Barcelona have made giant strides in their pursuit of Nico Williams lately.
Reports yesterday have indicated that the club are close to reaching a personal agreement with the Athletic Club winger.
Once a deal is reached, Barcelona only have to pay Nico’s €62 million release clause in order to attain the services of the Spanish international.
Nico wants certain guarantees
Although Nico is indeed close to reaching an agreement with Barcelona, the forward wants certain guarantees to be made.
This is according to RAC1, which suggests that the Spaniard is asking Barcelona to ensure his registration if he is to join the club.
It appears Nico has no plans of going through the trouble of Dani Olmo last season, where he signed a contract and was then unable to play for the club until his registration was ratified by the courts.
Nico wants Barcelona to guarantee him registration before he pens a contract with the club.
The report adds that everything will depend on Financial Fair Play margins, implying that the deal won’t be straightforward for Barcelona.
Although the agreement is close, Barça must not only ensure they have enough cash to meet Nico’s release clause but also create enough space in the wage bill to register the player.
Keeping that in mind, the Barcelona board must work ’round the clock to try and get rid of some unwanted individuals, which in turn, could see a revenue upsurge.
The coming days, to that end, could prove to be critical as Barcelona look to secure their second major signing of the summer.
