Nigerian sprinter Usheoritse Itsekiri showcased fine early-season form at the Johnny Loaring Classic in Ontario, Canada, posting two Season’s Best (SB) performances in the men’s 100m and 200m races on Sunday.
Itsekiri clocked 10.22s (+0.6) in the 100m to secure second place, finishing just behind Ghana’s Joseph Amoah who stormed to victory in 10.13s. Canada’s Eliezer Adjibi took third in 10.24s, capping a closely contested sprint final.
Showing admirable stamina and competitive spirit, Itsekiri returned to the track shortly after to compete in the 200m, where he again placed second—this time in 20.48s (+1.0), another SB for the Nigerian. Once more, Amoah took top honours with an impressive 20.25s, completing a sprint double on the day.
