Abuja 2025: LOC Praises Stakeholders As Jersey, Mascot Unveiled
With preparations in full gear for the historic 14th African Armwrestling Championship and 7th Para-Armwrestling Championship taking place in Abuja, Nigeria from July 23–27, 2025, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), led by Hon. Adeboye Adeyinka, continues to score major wins—this time with the official launch of the championship mascot and jersey, courtesy of Prostar Sports International.
Speaking after a high-level venue inspection at the NAF Conference Center, Abuja, Hon. Adeyinka, who also serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, commended all stakeholders and dignitaries for their unwavering support.
He emphasized that Nigeria is on the verge of delivering Africa’s most impactful sporting event in 2025, adding:
“Today marks another milestone. The partnership with Prostar Sports International showcases what happens when innovation meets vision.
From jerseys rooted in African identity to a mascot that speaks strength and unity, this championship is becoming a symbol of continental pride.”
The unveiling event, held on June 14, brought together top sports officials and public figures, including:
Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman, National Sports Commission
Chief Bukola Olopade, DG, National Sports Commission
Hon. Kafilat Ogbara (MHR)
Comrade Ayodele Olawande, Minister of Youth & Social Development
It was a night of color, culture, and community engagement, with the LOC launching a fundraising campaign to support the tournament’s execution.
At the heart of the celebration was Prostar Sports International, whose exclusive role as official kit sponsor brought prestige and professionalism to the event. Already known for powering leagues such as the Nigeria Premier Football League and Nigeria National League, Prostar’s new offering includes:
High-performance jerseys crafted with breathable, thermal-bonded fabric
Designs inspired by Abuja’s rich craftsmanship and African heritage
A larger-than-life mascot, created with input from local artists, youth, and athletes
Prostar’s Managing Director, Ambassador Paul Maduakor, remarked:

The LOC Chairman also confirmed that limited-edition jerseys and merchandise would be available for pre-sale and during the championship week—ensuring fans, schools, and clubs across Nigeria can show their support.
With momentum building and excitement soaring, Hon. Adeyinka closed by expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for his consistent support of grassroots sports, and to every partner committed to making Abuja 2025 a historic success.
“Come July, Africa will witness something extraordinary. South Africa and every nation coming will feel the warmth, power, and unity that only Nigeria can offer. We are ready.”
