Chukwuma Qualifies For World Championships With 11.03s
Nigeria’s sprint sensation Rosemary Chukwuma delivered a standout performance at the Star Athletics Sprint Series in Florida, storming to victory in the women’s 100m with a Season’s Best (SB) of 11.03s (+0.8).
The time not only secured her the top spot in her section but also punched her ticket to the Tokyo 2025 World Championships.
Chukwuma’s run was a masterclass in power and consistency, underlining her growing dominance this season. With the impressive 11.03s finish, she becomes the third Nigerian woman to meet the World Championships qualification standard in the 100m, joining compatriots Favour Ofili and Tima Godbless.
The race saw American Shannon Ray finishing second in 11.32s, while fellow American Candace Hill followed closely in third with 11.35s. But it was Chukwuma who stole the spotlight, reminding the world of her credentials on the big stage.
The performance marks a significant milestone in her buildup to Tokyo 2025, boosting Nigeria’s prospects in the sprints. Chukwuma, who has shown flashes of brilliance over the years, now appears to be hitting peak form at just the right time.
With Rosemary Chukwuma qualification now confirmed, attention will shift to how she maintains momentum through the remainder of the season as Team Nigeria continues to build a formidable lineup for next year’s global showpiece.
