McKenna Tipped For Brentford Job After Frank Joins Spurs
After Thomas Frank was appointed the new Tottenham Hotspur manager last night, Ipswich Town are likely to be bracing themselves for an approach from Brentford regarding a potential move for Kieran McKenna.
Recent reports have suggested that the Tractor Boys boss would be high up on Brentford’s shortlist should Frank fill the vacancy in north London left by the sacked Ange Postecoglou.
And with Frank having now signed a deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until the summer of 2028, Brentford’s hunt for a new manager will get underway.
One of the potential candidates – Brentford coach Justin Cochrane – will join Frank at Spurs as opposed to stepping up and replacing the Dane.
As a result, the bookmakers make McKenna the favourite to succeed Frank at the Gtech Community Stadium. He is as short as 4/5 with one bookmaker, while the second favourite is Keith Andrews, who was the set piece coach at Brentford under Frank. Meanwhile, former Manchester United and Republic of Ireland defender John O’Shea is an 8/1 shot.
Ipswich faced similar uncertainty 12 months ago surrounding McKenna’s future amid reported interest from the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea.
However, having guided the club to back-to-back promotions, the 39-year-old ultimately stayed at Portman Road and put pen to paper on a new contract.
