Spanish-born Nigerian striker Kevin Carlos Omoruyi is attracting serious interest from Villarreal and Bologna as both clubs seek attacking reinforcement this summer, according to Soccernet.ng.
The 24-year-old forward, currently on the books of Swiss giants FC Basel, has emerged as a prime target for Villarreal, who are preparing for life without Thierno Barry.
Barry, also a former Basel striker, moved to Spain in 2024 and is now being tracked by Premier League side Everton after an impressive debut season in La Liga, where he netted 11 goals in 35 appearances.
Carlos, who joined Basel as Barry’s replacement last summer from Swiss side Yverdon Sport for just over €3 million, has flourished in Switzerland.
He scored 15 goals and provided two assists in 40 appearances across all competitions in the 2024–25 campaign, playing a key role as Basel secured a domestic double — lifting both the Swiss Super League and the Swiss Cup.
His performances have not gone unnoticed.
Villarreal are exploring a move for the powerful forward, while Italian Serie A side Bologna are also keen on his signature, according to Sport. Carlos, under contract until 2028, is valued at €4.5 million by Transfermarkt.
Known for his physicality, aerial dominance, and ability to finish with both feet, Carlos is seen as a traditional number nine with the versatility to operate in modern attacking systems. The young forward has managed 50 career goals in 132 appearances for clubs across Spain and Switzerland.
Born in Ceuta to a Spanish mother and Nigerian father, Carlos has previously expressed a desire to represent the Super Eagles over La Roja.
The former Huesca and Real Betis B striker may not have always been a guaranteed starter at Basel, but his development over the last 12 months has been significant. As interest in his services mounts, a summer move could be on the horizon — with Spain or Italy his likely next destination.
