The ipaper’s Kat Lucas and Mark Douglas report that Tottenham Hotspur are ‘seriously considering’ Fulham head coach Marco Silva as a candidate to replace the sacked Ange Postecoglou.
Their story also quotes Spurs sources suggesting that the appointment of Brentford boss Thomas Frankly, widely regarded as the frontrunner to succeed the Australian at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, is ‘no done deal’. Both candidates would require a hefty payment from Tottenham to their current employers. Frank had a £10m release clause written in to the new deal he signed with Brentford in 2022, whilst Silva’s release clause is believed to be in the region of £6m. Paying off Postecoglou is reported to have cost Tottenham around £4m.
Lucas and Douglas also disclose that Fulham remain in talks with Silva over extending his current contract at Craven Cottage, which has a year left. They state that ‘no agreement has been reached’ yet. The Portuguese head coach, who rejected an another approach from Saudi Arabia in the final week of the Premier League season, has also interested Serie A side Juventus of late – but insisted he would be managing Fulham next season following their final day defeat to Manchester City.
