Dessers Eyes Greek Switch After Golden Boot Season In Scotland
Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers is at the centre of transfer speculation after confirming interest from Greek Super League giants Olympiacos and AEK Athens, following a stellar season with Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.
Dessers, 30, enjoyed a prolific 2024/2025 campaign at Ibrox, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 18 goals — a feat that has reignited interest in his services across Europe.
Despite helping Rangers mount a strong title challenge and impressing in domestic competitions, the Nigerian international hinted at a potential summer exit amid the growing suitors.
“There has been interest from Olympiacos and AEK Athens, yes,” Dessers confirmed. “Right now, I’m still a Rangers player, but we’ll see what the summer brings.”
With Rangers looking to reshape their squad ahead of the new season, Dessers’ future remains uncertain. His goal-scoring instincts, physical presence, and experience across Europe have made him an attractive target for the Greek clubs, both of which are aiming to bolster their attacking options for domestic and continental campaigns.
A move to Greece would mark a new chapter for Dessers, who previously played in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Italy before arriving in Scotland. He has also been a regular feature for Nigeria’s national team, adding international pedigree to his club success.
