2024/2025: When Three Super Eagles Became Goal Kings In Europe

Nigerian strikers are taking Europe by storm, and the 2024–25 season has proven to be a landmark year for the country’s finest finishers.

From Turkey to Scotland and Belgium, Nigerian forwards are not just lighting up scoreboards — they’re claiming Golden Boots and making history.

Victor Osimhen: A Historic Season in Turkey

Victor Osimhen marked his debut season in the Turkish Super Lig with a stunning performance, finishing as the league’s top scorer and playing a pivotal role in guiding Galatasaray to the championship.

Osimhen’s scored 26 goals to lead the chasing park to be crowned the goals king this season in Turkey.

The achievement is more than just personal glory. He becomes the first Nigerian ever to win the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot, and only the fourth African to achieve this feat — joining Morocco’s Aatif Chahechouhe (2014), Senegal’s Mbaye Diagne (2019), and Gabon’s Aaron Boupendza (2021).

Having previously clinched the Serie A Golden Boot in 2022–23 with Napoli, Osimhen now enters a rarefied circle of players who have finished as top scorers in two different major European leagues.

Galatasaray is determined to hold onto their star, reportedly ready to meet his Napoli release clause, but interest from Premier League, Serie A, and Saudi clubs ensures his future remains a hot topic in the transfer market.

Cyril Dessers: Scotland’s Premier Predator

In Scotland, Cyriel Dessers also written his own chapter of success.

The Rangers forward claimed the Scottish Premiership Golden Boot, by scoring 25 goals, impressing fans and pundits alike with his consistency, movement, and knack for delivering in high-stakes matches.

Dessers’ prolific form has further enhanced Nigeria’s growing reputation for producing elite-level attackers and may well open the door to a move to one of Europe’s top leagues.

Tolu Arokodare: Belgium’s Breakout Star

Rounding out the Super Eagles’ striking trifecta is Tolu Arokodare, who finished as the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League with 21 goals.

The Genk forward has been a revelation, blending strength, speed, and composure to torment defenses throughout the season.

Arokodare’s emergence signals not only his rise as a serious contender for a regular Super Eagles call-up, but also his growing appeal among top-tier European clubs.

From Istanbul to Glasgow to Brussels, Nigerian forwards are not just making headlines — they’re reshaping the narrative of African excellence in European football.

Osimhen, Dessers, and Arokodare have not only topped their respective goal charts but have also proudly flown the Nigerian flag across the continent.

Their collective success signals a golden era for Nigerian strikers — one filled with goals, records, and the promise of even greater triumphs ahead.
