If Osimhen Goes “It Will Be For Money”, Says Galatasaray VP

Galatasaray Vice President Niyazi Yelkencioğlu has delivered a candid update on the uncertain future of Victor Osimhen, amid growing speculation linking the Nigerian striker with a big-money move to the Premier League, according to Soccernet.ng.

Osimhen, 26, enjoyed a sensational loan spell with Galatasaray last season, scoring 36 goals and providing 8 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.

The Super Eagles striker prolific form helped the Turkish giants clinch the Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup double, making him a fan favourite in Istanbul.

However, his future now appears to hang in the balance.

Galatasaray Vice President on Victor Osimhen’s future: “If he goes, it will be for money”

Speaking to Ekol TV via Haber7, Yelkencioğlu admitted the final decision lies with the player but hinted strongly that financial incentives could sway Osimhen’s next move.

“First of all, it is his decision, we are waiting for his decision. If he goes, it will be for financial reasons,” he said.

He added: “We know that his heart is here. Financial matters are also very important, big numbers are being talked about. We will see, we are waiting.”

Galatasaray are reportedly preparing for life without the Super Eagles striker, with Premier League heavyweights Manchester United keen to swoop.

The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves for €75 million and are believed to be on the hunt for another marquee forward.

According to CaughtOffside via BeinSports, Osimhen tops United’s shortlist alongside Lille’s Jonathan David, Juventus’ Randal Kolo Muani, and Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Despite the looming transfer speculation, Yelkencioğlu remained optimistic about the club’s future.

“We have caught a good atmosphere. We have very good players. With a few reinforcements, this team will reach even better places. We will be successful in Europe as well. I believe that our success will continue in Türkiye as well,” he said.

For now, Galatasaray remain hopeful, but with “big numbers” in play and Manchester United circling, Osimhen’s Istanbul fairytale may be heading for a blockbuster ending.
