The much-anticipated Showtime Bowl XII final is set for June 1, 2025, at Showtime Arena Lagos, featuring the unbeaten Lagos Athletic Knights against the resilient Warriors Flag Football team.
The winner will claim an unprecedented ₦22.7 million prize package, including a ₦10 million cash prize, a ₦9 million championship trophy, ₦1.8 million in player rings, and ₦900,000 worth of gold medals — the biggest payout in Nigerian sports history for a single event.
The Lagos Athletic Knights have dominated the season with a flawless 7-0 record and a commanding 36-14 semifinal win over Lagos Raptors.
The Warriors earned their place with a decisive 48-7 semifinal victory against Ikan Sports. Both teams have demonstrated remarkable skill and determination, promising a thrilling finale for fans.
Showtime Flag Football League continues to gain momentum with teams like Ikan Sports, Lagos Raptors, Panthers Sports and Greenbacks, all fiercely competing in the league.
This season’s success has inspired Showtime to announce exciting expansions to Ogun, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Ondo, Enugu, and Kwara states, broadening the league’s reach across Nigeria.
Additionally, a weekly U-10 youth flag football clinic will launch in Lagos starting September, aiming to nurture the next generation of athletes.
The recent successful flag football demonstration at the 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, organized by Showtime and NAFA, was a milestone for the sport. This exposure led to the awarding of International Junior Athlete Scholarships, further elevating flag football’s profile nationwide.
Showtime Flag Football League Chairman Azeez Amida expressed gratitude to the National Sports Commission, led by Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade, for their unwavering support. “With the Commission’s backing, we are transforming flag football into a major sport in Nigeria and inspiring countless young Nigerians,” Amida said.
The Showtime Bowl XII final promises a spectacular sporting event with top-tier competition, entertainment, and memorable fan experiences.
Doors open at 2 PM with kickoff at 4 PM on June 1.
