Lenovo/Motorola Extends FIFA Sponsorship With Club World Cup
Coming just in time for kick-off, FIFA has announced a sponsorship with tech giants Lenovo and its Motorola Mobility smartphone brand for the Club World Cup.
Motorola will be designated the ‘Official Club World Cup 2025 Smartphone Partner’ and will promote its portfolio of devices, infrastructure solutions and smartphones throughout the tournament that has been expanded to 32 teams and will be played June 14 to July 13.
Lenovo will have pride of place in terms of brand advertising real estate on FIFA communications.
FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström said: “The inaugural FIFA Club World Cup will mark a new era in global club football – one that is inclusive, innovative and more connected than ever before. We’re delighted to have Motorola and Lenovo joining us for this groundbreaking tournament. Their world-class technology and global perspective will help elevate the experience for fans, teams and other stakeholders.”
Lenovo is not a new FIFA partner, having become FIFA’s Official Technology Partner last October. The Club World Cup sponsorship is additional to that agreement. No value was given for the additional sponsorship.
Lenovo becomes just the sixth sponsor for the tournament, all of the other five sponsor had already agreed wider FIFA sponsorships before adding the Club World Cup rights. Lenovo joins Bank of America, Coca-Cola, Hisense, Michelob Extra and VISA.
“The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 represents an incredible opportunity to showcase not only the world’s best football clubs, but also the transformative potential of innovation. Through our infrastructure, devices – from smartphones to Lenovo PCs and servers – and services, we’ll help FIFA deliver a tournament that is truly inclusive for fans around the world,” said Motorola president Sergio Buniac.
