Felix Agu: Why I Chose Super Eagles Over Germany
Former Germany U-21 full-back, Felix Agu, has revealed why he opted to play for the Super Eagles instead of Julian Nagelsmann’s side, according to Soccernet.ng.
The 25-year-old helped Werder Bremen to an 8th place finish in the just-concluded Bundesliga season, chipping in with three goals from 21 appearances for Ole Werner’s side.
Agu was invited to Nigeria’s Unity Cup squad by their head coach, Eric Chelle. He’s now been cleared to play for the Super Eagles and could make his debut for the three-time AFCON winners tonight.
Having trained with the rest of the Nigerian team, Agu revealed it feels surreal to see his dream come true, admitting he chose to play for the Super Eagles to connect with his roots.
“As I said before, it’s nice to represent the biggest African country. To connect more to my roots and to be able to play with such good players.
“It’s an honour to just represent such a big, big country. I see the quality of players we have here in this in this team, and what we can can achieve, so it was my plan to be able to contribute and represent my country,” the former VfL Osnabrück defender told Soccernet.ng.
Like Agu, several other new Super Eagles stars could make their debut tonight in the highly-anticipated Jollof Derby against Ghana at the Gtech Community Stadium tonight.
