Man Utd Confirms Amorim, Rashford Decision Pending
The futures of Ruben Amorim and Marcus Rashford have been in the spotlight amid a disastrous season at Manchester United
Ruben Amorim is said to retain the backing of the Manchester United hierarchy, which means Marcus Rashford’s Old Trafford fate will almost certainly remain the same.
Amorim was questioned about his future in the wake of the Red Devils’ Europa League final defeat to Tottenham on Wednesday night.
And he said he would leave Old Trafford without a pay-off if the club’s board and fans want him to, with the 1-0 defeat to Spurs ending any hopes of salvaging some pride from a disastrous season in which Amorim’s side also languish in 16th place in the Premier League table.
“In this moment I am not going to be here defending myself,” Amorim said after the defeat to Tottenham in Bilbao. “It’s not my style, I cannot do it. It is really hard for me.
“So, I have nothing to show to the fans and say ‘I’m going to improve because of this’, ‘I had these problems.’ I will not do nothing. So, in this moment it is a little bit of faith. Let’s see.
“I’m always open, if the board and the fans feel that I am not the right guy, I will go in the next day without any conversation about compensation. But I will not quit.
“I am really confident in my job and, as you can see, I will not change anything in how I do things.”
It also appears that United chiefs will not make any changes at the top, with our sister title the Manchester Evening News reporting Amorim retains support inside the club’s corridors of power.
It means Rashford’s future is still almost certain to lie away from Old Trafford, having been frozen out by Amorim before joining Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season in February.
Villa have a £40m option to sign him permanently this summer, while Barcelona sporting director Deco has also revealed the Spanish giants “like” him.
