There Is A Good Chance To Win The Ballon d’Or, Says Salah
Liverpool’s Egyptian speaks about his Ballon d’Or prospects, winning more league and European titles and breaking records
In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah speaks about his Ballon d’Or chances, winning more Premier League and UEFA Champions League titles and breaking individual records.
On his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or
“It used to drive me crazy before. Some stuff is not in your hands so you give up in that direction. When you go to work you remind yourself what you want to achieve in the season so it drives you to work harder. I’d love to win it one day. But if it didn’t happen, I don’t know what to do.
“I’m sure there’s a good chance to win it this year, but we’ll see.”
On wanting more Premier League and Champions League titles
“This year I won the Premier League and I think I never felt happier in the club for eight years like this moment in the Spurs game.
“I really wish we win the Champions League game [against Paris Saint-Germain]. I know the Premier League is always nice for the club and that’s how it should be, but I would love to win the Champions League and Premier League again.”
On his desire to break records
Salah has produced 46 goal involvements this season and is only one behind the record jointly held by Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole, who achieved their feats in a 42-match campaign.
“I broke the one for 38 [matches]. It is important to me. Because we slowed down because we won the league.
“Last week Lucho [Luis Diaz] missed a chance and I was like, ‘oh, please! What else can I do?’ I would love to break it. I think I’ll break it.”
