Adeyemi Names Osimhen In His Top 3 All-Time Nigerians
Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi has revealed his admiration for some Nigerian football stars—both former and current players, according to Soccernet.
Adeyemi, whose father is Nigerian, has often embraced his roots and did so once again when asked to name the Nigerian players he rates most highly.
Speaking to Oma Sports after Dortmund’s 4-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen, the German-Nigerian player listed Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, and the legendary Jay-Jay Okocha among his favourite Nigerian players of all time.
“I think the best player ever is Jay-Jay Okocha, of course,” Adeyemi said.“About great players, [Victor] Osimhen is really good and also from [Bayer] Leverkusen, [Victor] Boniface is really good. Yeah, Nigeria has a lot of good players – and even players who do not play for Nigeria.”
Osimhen, currently leading the line for Galatasaray, has established himself as one of the most lethal strikers in Europe, while Boniface enjoyed a breakout season with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, where he earned praise and even a call up to the Super Eagles squad following his explosive performances.
Okocha, meanwhile, remains a beloved figure in the world of football for his creativity, and dribbling skills. This has also had a good impact on Nigerian football, both at home and abroad.
