Fabregas Confirms Como’s Interest In A 24-year-old Barca Star
Transfer news is always floating around when it comes to clubs like FC Barcelona. Considering the sheer prestige and popularity of the club, it is something to be expected. Still, certain links and rumors connected to Barcelona end up being something much more.
One player in particular who has had a lot of noise surrounding his future is 24-year-old Spanish defender Eric Garcia. Previously on loan at Girona, he has now established himself as someone who is backed by Hansi Flick and has a place at Barcelona.
Thanks to his versatility and commitment to the cause, Garcia has become a valuable asset for Barcelona. However, that also means that other clubs have recognized the value that he provides, and he is seen as a dependable and versatile option to cover several positions.
Cesc Fabregas wants Eric Garcia at Como
In the case of the Italian side Como, that reported interest in him has now been publicly confirmed as well by none other than Cesc Fabregas himself. Currently, the head coach of the Italian club, Mundo Deportivo, has highlighted what he said about Eric Garcia recently:
“I confirm our interest in Eric Garcia from Barcelona. I like him a lot — he’s versatile, a leader, and important for the team. But he’s staying at Barcelona.”
This is big news, and it comes out right after Garcia’s solid display against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League. With other reports suggesting that various clubs are still interested in the services of the player, an official confirmation like this is sure to be big news.
Still, it seems unlikely that Hansi Flick would let go of Eric Garcia just like that, considering the fact that he pushed him to stay at Barcelona. Since then, Garcia staying at the club has proven to be the right decision for both the player, as he receives opportunities, and for the coach, as Flick has managed to use him effectively this season.
Fabregas shares his experience of Barcelona vs Inter Milan
On a slightly different note, Fabregas also spoke about his experience at the San Siro watching his former club Barcelona, play against Inter Milan:
“I was leaving after Raphinha scored, then I heard a roar and came back inside. I saw the extra time — it was a beautiful match, unforgettable, part of Champions League history.”
Undeniably a tough loss for Barcelona, but it is still just a match, and the team needs to bounce back from that loss. Fortunately, the Catalan giants will now have the opportunity to do that against Real Madrid, despite the fact that the game will present its own unique headaches for Hansi Flick to sort out.
