Villa To Offload A Starting Player Before Rogers’ Potential Exit
Aston Villa are ready to sell other first-XI stars ahead of in-demand attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (6 May) that Villa will do everything they can to keep star man Rogers, 22, amid new interest from Chelsea.
He has also caught the eye of former club Man City with his impressive performances at Villa Park this summer.
Unai Emery is desperate to keep hold of Rogers but Villa acknowledge they will have to accept offers that are too good to turn down.
Aston Villa hatch plan to avoid Rogers sale
The Midlands giants have struggled to meet Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and may have to sell first-team stars in order to spend on new arrivals this summer.
However, sources say Aston Villa would prefer not to sell Rogers – and could sacrifice other stars to make their wish reality.
The England international only signed a contract extension in November 2024, with his new deal set to run until June 2030.
He has notched 14 goals and 13 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions for Aston Villa in the 2024-25 campaign.
Rogers cost Villa just £15million after add-ons when he arrived from Middlesbrough in January 2024.
Arsenal plan to reignite Watkins move
Ollie Watkins could be one Aston Villa star set to depart in the upcoming summer window.
Football Insider revealed on 2 May that Arsenal are planning to reignite their bid to sign Watkins this summer.
Villa knocked back a £50million offer from the London giants for their star striker, 29, in the January transfer window.
