Marcus Rashford Begins Talks With ‘Dream Club’ To Speed Up Man United Exit
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has begun initial talks over a summer transfer to Barcelona, according to reports in Spain.
Rashford was allowed to join Aston Villa on loan in the January transfer window after being frozen of United’s first team by Ruben Amorim.
The 27-year-old is due to return to United once his loan spell with Villa expires at the end of the season, however, it’s understood that he is aware that he has no future at Old Trafford while Amorim remains in charge.
Rashford has identified Barcelona as his preferred destination this summer and according to Mundo Deportivo, initial discussions with Barcelona have taken place.
The report claims that Rashford has now enlisted the help of veteran agent, Pini Zahavi, to secure a switch to Barca and is hoping that the 82-year-old’s positive connections with the Catalan club and their president, Joan Laporta, will help with negotiations.
Barcelona, meanwhile, explored the possibility of signing Rashford on loan in the January window and have retained their interest ahead of the summer.
One major obstacle is Rashford’s £350,000-a-week salary, however, it’s understood that the England international is willing to reduce his salary in order to secure a move away from United.
Rashford is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and has missed Villa’s last two matches.
Villa are due to play Bournemouth and Tottenham before their final game of the season away to Manchester United on May 25, although Rashford would be ineligible to play against his parent club.
