Salah’s Emotional Words On Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool Exit
Mohamed Salah has become the latest Liverpool star to send a message of support to Trent Alexander-Arnold after the defender confirmed he would be leaving the club
Mohamed Salah has dished out a heartwarming tribute to friend and teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold as the defender gets ready to say his goodbyes to Liverpool at season’s end.
Alexander-Arnold, 26, put an end to a year of chatter this Bank Holiday Monday, dropping the news he is cutting ties with the Reds after a solid 20 years once his current deal runs out in June.
On Monday, the Scouser spilled his thoughts about jetting off from Anfield, confessing it “was easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life” in an emotional interview.
He said: “This club has been my whole life – my whole world – for 20 years. From the Academy right through until now, the support and love I have felt from everyone inside and outside of the club will stay with me forever.”
Alexander-Arnold’s bombshell had the Kopites riding a rollercoaster of emotions, gutted about losing one of their own, a West Derby lad who has won every trophy available since making his debut in October 2016.
But even amidst the clamour, plenty of nods came flying from Reds like Jordan Henderson, Andy Robertson, Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, along with a lineup of other past and present teammates cheering him on as he preps for a fresh adventure.
And come Monday eve, Salah chimed in too, taking a trip down memory lane over their eight-year bromance and tossing his best wishes to Alexander-Arnold for the rumoured switch to sunny Spain.
“It’s been a pleasure sharing a special friendship with you and playing alongside you,” Salah penned on social media.
“I wish you the best and I am sure we will meet again.”
Salah’s 2017 Liverpool transfer from AS Roma coincided with Alexander-Arnold’s emergence as a first-team pro at Anfield.
Together they bagged every huge honour going, teaming up to win the Champions League, two Prem titles, a Super Cup, Club World Cup, League Cup and an FA Cup.
Just like Alexander-Arnold, Salah’s Anfield contract was due to run out this summer, originally set to finish June 30.
However just last month, the Egyptian star signed up with the Reds for another two years – meaning he’ll play for Liverpool till the 2026-27 season ends.
With the Prem title sewn up with four games to go, Liverpool have got clashes against Arsenal, Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace before the curtain falls.
