Rofiat Imuran Shines As London City Lionesses Gain Historic WSL Promotion
Nigerian defender Rofiat Imuran has played a pivotal role in London City Lionesses’ historic promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL).
The 20-year-old Super Falcons player was instrumental in the team’s successful campaign, culminating in a decisive 2–2 draw against Birmingham City on the final day, which secured their top position in the FA Women’s Championship with 43 points .
Rofiat Imuran consistent performances throughout the season, characterized by her tenacity, composure, and ability to transition play from defense to attack, have been widely praised. Her contributions were crucial in the Lionesses’ remarkable season .
Having joined London City Lionesses in October 2024 on a three-year contract from French club Stade de Reims, Imuran brought with her valuable experience from her time in France, where she made 30 league appearances and scored eight goals .
Her international experience includes representing Nigeria at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and being part of the Super Falcons squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup .
