Brazil Mount Pressure On Ancelotti, Expect Decision Next Week
Rodrigo Caetano, coordinator of the Brazilian national teams, says the Seleçao will appoint a new coach by next week. Carlo Ancelotti is still heavily linked to the job.
Ancelotti has reportedly reached an agreement to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, but the Italian tactician said he’d only reveal his future after the end of the La Liga campaign.
The serial Champions League winner is the leading candidate to take over at Brazil, but the Brazilian Federation seems to be in a hurry to appoint a new coach who would lead the team during the World Cup qualifiers and, hopefully, during the 2026 World Cup.
Brazil put pressure on Ancelotti
“We regularly hold internal meetings at CBF. Ednaldo [Rodrigues, President of the Brazilian FA] and I are working to choose the new coach as quickly as possible,” Rodrigo Caetano, coordinator of the Brazilian national teams, told Sport TV via TMW.
“These are confidential negotiations; talking about percentages is practically impossible. We know that picking the coach of the Brazil national team is a big responsibility, but we intend to finalise it by next week at the latest.”
Ancelotti is contracted with Real Madrid until 2026, but he’s expected to leave in the summer.
The Italian tactician remains the most successful coach in the history of the Merengues, having lifted 15 trophies at the Bernabeu.
