FC Barcelona unveiled the special edition Travis Scott shirts that the team will wear for next weekend’s El Clasico against Real Madrid.
As has become tradition, the Catalans partnered with a music artist for this match, thanks to their partnership with their main shirt sponsor, Spotify.
Lucrative collaboration for Barcelona
Now, according to COPE, Barcelona have raked in a hefty €1.5 million in one hour from their collaboration with Travis Scott through the sales of the special edition shirts.
Sales began shortly after 9:00 am earlier today, and by 10:00 AM, most items were already sold out.
There were four shirt models available – two for men and two for women. One version was a limited edition of 1,899 units priced at €399.99 each, while another, signed by players, was priced at €2,999.99.
Within just over thirty minutes, all sizes – S, M, L, and XL – of all editions had completely sold out.
In total, two editions of 1,899 shirts at €399.99 each were made available and sold out, generating €1,519,162.02.
Additionally, the exclusive signed version – limited to 11 shirts for men and 11 for women – at €2,999.99 each, added another €65,999.78. Combined, the campaign raised €1,585,161.80 in just one hour.
This marks the sixth collaboration between FC Barcelona and Spotify featuring musical artists. Previous partners have included Drake, Rosalía, the Rolling Stones, Karol G, and Coldplay – all for matches against Real Madrid.
The effect of these collaborations on the team’s form has varied, with Rosalía and Coldplay bringing good fortune on the field, while Drake, the Rolling Stones, and Karol G coincided with less favourable results.
Time will tell whether Travis Scott brings luck to the team. For now, though, off the field, the collaboration seems to be an instant hit.
