Former Super Eagles left-back, Taye Taiwo has been inducted into French Ligue club, Marseille‘s Hall of Fame.
Taye Taiwo, the Nigerian left-back, had a memorable stint with French giants Olympique de Marseille from 2005 to 2011.
During his six-year tenure, Taiwo established himself as a key player for the club, making 192 appearances and scoring 17 goals.
Taiwo’s time at Marseille was marked by several highlights, including winning the Ligue 1 title in the 2009-2010 season and the Coupe de la Ligue in 2010 and 2011.
He was an integral part of the team that finished as runners-up in the 2006-2007 and 2008-2009 seasons.
The Nigerian defender was known for his defensive and attacking prowess, delivering pinpoint accurate crosses and set pieces, which often led to goals for his teammates.
His defensive skills were also commendable, as he formed a solid partnership with other defenders to provide stability at the back.
He was an important player for the club during his time there, and the Marseille faithful will always remember his contributions.
