Piers Morgan Slams Arteta’s ‘Ridiculous Excuses’ After Arsenal’s Carabao Cup Exit

Controversial British broadcaster Piers Morgan has criticized Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for making excuses following the Gunners’ Carabao Cup semi-final defeat to Newcastle United.

Newcastle secured a 4-0 aggregate victory, with Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon scoring in the second leg to book a spot in the final against either Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur.

Arteta attributed the loss to the team’s demanding schedule, saying, “We have played so many games, every three days, and we knew that would be a high intensity. Emotionally it was a different game to believe we could get there. And before we expected, the game got away from us.”

Morgan, however, was unimpressed, calling out Arteta for failing to sign a top striker during the January transfer window.

“Arteta deserves this. He needs to stop making ridiculous excuses and accept responsibility for not buying a proper striker,” Morgan wrote on X. “A decision that means we once again won’t win a trophy this season.”

With the Carabao Cup campaign over, Arsenal will now focus on their Premier League and UEFA Champions League pursuits.
