Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has suggested that Arsenal should have signed either Jhon Duran or Alexander Isak during the January transfer window to enhance Martin Odegaard’s game.
Odegaard, a key figure for Arsenal over the past four seasons, recently scored in the Gunners’ emphatic 5-1 Premier League victory against Manchester City.
Speaking on The Overlap, Scholes highlighted the potential impact of a top-quality striker on Odegaard’s performance.
“Imagine him with a centre forward, though. With a proper centre forward,” Scholes said.
“Martin Odegaard is a brilliant player, he can put a ball anywhere he wants. He hasn’t got that in front of him, a No. 10 needs that in front of him.
“I don’t think Kai Havertz is that type of player, even though he might make the odd run here and there.
“You are thinking Isak or Duran, the lad from Villa. If he had that in front of him, it makes him become a better player as well because he’s more involved with goals.”
Duran recently moved from Aston Villa to Al Nassr, while Isak remains at Newcastle United despite past links to Arsenal and Chelsea.
