Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed doubts about the credibility of the Ballon d’Or award.
Speaking on Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr.’s Ballon d’Or snub, Ronaldo admitted he was not surprised that the Brazilian didn’t win the prestigious accolade, despite an outstanding season.
Manchester City midfielder Rodri claimed the award ahead of Vinicius, who had been the frontrunner after scoring 25 goals and providing 12 assists in 40 appearances for Los Blancos.
The winger also won the Champions League, La Liga, and Supercopa de España under Carlo Ancelotti.
“Vini Jr. deserved to win the Ballon d’Or, but I’m not surprised… not only because I didn’t win it or not, but because it lacks credibility.”
Ronaldo remarked. “He won the Champions League and scored goals,” he added, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano on X.
