Alphonso Davies signs five-year deal with Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies has committed his future to the club, signing a new five-year contract that will keep him at the Allianz Arena until June 2030.

The announcement on Tuesday puts an end to speculation linking the 24-year-old Canadian international with a move to Real Madrid. Davies was previously expected to join the Spanish giants as a free agent when his previous contract expired in June.

Since joining Bayern from Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019, Davies has been instrumental in the club’s success, winning five Bundesliga titles and a Champions League trophy.

This season, the dynamic full-back has made 25 appearances in all competitions, contributing one goal and three assists.

Speaking about the new deal, Davies expressed his excitement:

“Bayern has always been a home for me. I’m happy to continue my journey with this incredible club and its amazing fans.”

Bayern Munich currently lead the Bundesliga, sitting six points clear of defending champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Under manager Vincent Kompany, the Bavarians are also set to face Celtic in a two-legged Champions League play-off.
