AFCON 2025: Lawal urges Super Eagles to approach group games with equal focus

Former Nigerian international, Dimeji Lawal, has advised the Super Eagles to approach every match in their group with the same level of seriousness to ensure a successful campaign.

Nigeria finds itself in Group C of the tournament alongside Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda. Despite the perception that Nigeria is a strong contender, Lawal cautioned against complacency.

“On paper, the Super Eagles should be able to progress to the knockout stages of the competition with ease. But since football is not mathematics, Nigeria must ensure they treat every team equally in order to qualify from the group,” Lawal told Complete Sports.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining a competitive mindset:

“I still believe Nigeria has the quality to win the competition if everything goes as planned. I just hope the players will approach every game like a cup final.”

Lawal remains optimistic about Nigeria’s chances, stating, “This is a tournament that the Super Eagles can go far in and possibly lift the trophy.”

The Super Eagles will need discipline, focus, and resilience to secure success against their group opponents and beyond.
