Arsenal appeal Lewis-Skelly red card
Arsenal have filed an appeal seeking to overturn Myles Lewis-Skelly’s controversial red card.
The defender was sent off during the team’s 1-0 victory over Wolves on Saturday.
Lewis-Skelly received the dismissal in the 43rd minute for a late tackle on Matt Doherty, catching him above the ankle while attempting to break up a counter-attack near the Wolves’ box.
Referee Michael Oliver’s decision was reviewed and upheld by VAR official Darren England.
If the appeal is unsuccessful, Lewis-Skelly will miss Arsenal’s next three games, including a Premier League clash against Manchester City on Sunday, the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Newcastle next week, and a league fixture against Leicester on February 15.
