Barcelona Rule Out Key Economic Lever To Register New Signings – Report

With less than two weeks remaining before the year comes to an end, Barcelona are facing a race against time to register Dani Olmo and Pau Torres.

Both the new signings’ contracts are set to expire at the end of the month. This is why the players would become free agents and would be eligible to join any European club on a free transfer.

To prevent this situation, Barcelona are desperately working on activating various economic measures. The club has even considered providing an economic guarantee through club bosses.

Barcelona rule out key lever
However, as clarified by Alex Pintanel, it appears Barcelona have ruled out using any guarantees to register Olmo or Torres.

With only 12 days left to comply with La Liga’s registration requirements, Barcelona will seek to register Olmo either through legal avenues or capital from a Middle Eastern country.

This decision comes at a time when the club has been navigating through complex financial fair play regulations.

Barcelona’s approach now seems to lean towards finding alternative solutions within its current financial framework rather than seeking external financial support or legal manoeuvres.

It must be noted that Barça still have quite a few options, with club president Joan Laporta recently hinting at the option of pegging Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s contract to re-register Olmo and Pau.

However, it seems Barcelona are aiming for long-term sustainability. As such, the club’s priority will be to bring in revenue either through player sales or partnerships.

Whether or not they can facilitate these levers within the space of the next 12 days remains to be seen.

Olmo, for his part, remains determined to continue at Barcelona and expects the club to do everything in their power to register him.
