The Ukrainian has missed the London club’s last five games and has not featured since a Europa Conference League match at Heidenheim on November 28. This was out down to illness, but there are suspicions that it could have been related to the failed test.

Chelsea confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday, while Mudryk is currently waiting on the result of a ‘B’ sample and whether it confirms the findings of his ‘A’ sample.

The winger has been suspended in the meantime and this is a situation that could ruin his football career.

Enzo Maresca believes that this is not the end for the 23-year-old and showed the player support during his latest press conference.

Enzo Maresca shows support to Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk

Maresca has not been using Mudryk as a main star so far this season with the winger mostly featuring in the cup competitions. The Ukraine international has played 15 times for the Blues, contributing with three goals and five assists.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday, Maresca has shown his support for the 23-year-old and does not believe his career is over.

Pundit thinks Man United should move for Mykhailo Mudryk

“We all support Mudryk,” the Italian coach said via Fabrizio Romano. “The situation is a bit more clear. We have a statement from the club, who have already said what we need to say.

“So there is not anything to add. All the players inside the training ground support and trust Misha.”

The Chelsea boss continued by saying via Fabrizio Romano: “We all believe Mudryk is innocent. For sure he will come back.

“I don’t think Misha’s Chelsea career is over. I think he will come back.

“We don’t know when, that is the only doubt we have at this moment. But for sure, he will be back.”

Real Madrid Eased To Victory Against Mexican Side Pachuca In The Fifa Intercontinental Cup Final In Qatar

Real Madrid Eased To Victory Against Mexican Side Pachuca In The Fifa Intercontinental Cup Final In Qatar

Kylian Mbappe’s first-half strike at Lusail Stadium – the venue where he scored a hat-trick in the World Cup final exactly two years ago – set Real Madrid on their way before Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr scored after half-time.

Mbappe gave Madrid the lead late in the first half, tapping home from close range after Vinicius had rounded Carlos Moreno in the Pachuca goal.

Rodrygo doubled Madrid’s lead seven minutes into the second half with a sublime curling striker from the edge of the box.

The goal stood following a pitchside monitor review, with referee Jesus Valenzuela deciding that Jude Bellingham had not interfered with play while standing in an offside position.

Pachuca captain Salomon Rondon had Thibaut Courtois stretching to save a long-range free-kick, before the former West Brom and Everton striker, 35, sent a header narrowly over the crossbar.

A day after being named men’s player of the year at the Fifa Best awards, Vinicius added a third from the penalty spot after Lucas Vazquez was brought down by Oussama Idrissi.

The inaugural edition of the Intercontinental Cup – essentially a replacement for the Fifa Club World Cup, which will instead take place next summer – involved the winners of five continental club competitions taking part in a straight knockout tournament.

Pachuca, winners of the Concacaf Champions Cup, defeated Caf Champions League holders Al-Ahly of Egypt to reach the final. Uefa Champions League winners Madrid did not take part in the previous rounds.

Why Vinicius Jr Emerged As Fifa Best Men’s Player Of The Year

Why Vinicius Jr Emerged As Fifa Best Men's Player Of The Year

Real Madrid and Brazil winger Vinicius Jr has been named the men’s player of the year at the Fifa Best Awards.

The 24-year-old and his club boycotted the recent Ballon d’Or ceremony after missing out to Manchester City’s Rodri – but he picked up this prize in Doha.

Vinicius played a key role in Real’s Champions League and La Liga-winning campaign in 2023-24, scoring 24 goals and providing 11 assists.

Earlier in the ceremony, Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati was named the women’s player of the year for the second year in a row.

This was the first time Vinicius has won the award and capped a happier finish to the season than October’s Ballon d’Or boycott.

“It seemed impossible when I played barefoot in the streets of Sao Goncalo and now I’m here,” Vinicius said.

The Ballon d’Or and Fifa Best Awards are the two most prestigious in football.

This was Vinicius’ first Fifa prize, with Lionel Messi winning the previous two awards and Robert Lewandowski the two before that.

The award – for football from August 2023 to August 2024 – was decided by a mix of public vote, one journalist from each country and the captain and manager of each national team. Each group’s vote counted for 25%.

Real Madrid were already in Qatar for Wednesday’s Fifa Intercontinental Cup final against Mexican side Pachuca at Lusail Stadium.

Spain’s Euro 2024-winning midfielder Rodri finished second to Vinicius for the award, while Real’s England player Jude Bellingham was third.

Fifa has released details on who each coach and captain voted for.

England skipper Harry Kane opted for Rodri, with international team-mate Bellingham second and Vinicius third.

Lee Carsley, who was the Three Lions’ interim boss when the votes were cast, went for Bellingham, Rodri and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal in that order.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke and Wales manager Craig Bellamy both opted for Rodri as their top pick.

Wales skipper Aaron Ramsey went for Vinicius, while Northern Ireland captain Paddy McNair voted for Rodri.

Brazil’s captain and manager voted for Vinicius, but their Spanish counterparts both selected Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal.

Team of the year – Martinez, Dias, Saliba, Rodri, Haaland make cut

There were five Premier League players in the men’s team of the year, to go with five from Real Madrid (including the retired Toni Kroos) and one from Barcelona.

The players selected were Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa), Ruben Dias (Manchester City), William Saliba (Arsenal), Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, Jude Bellingham, Kroos (all Real Madrid), Rodri, Erling Haaland (both Man City), Lamine Yamal (Barcelona) and Vinicius Jr (Real Madrid).

Martinez was named goalkeeper of the year after helping Argentina win the Copa America.

The 32-year-old has now won the best goalkeeper award twice at each of the Ballon d’Or and Fifa Best awards.

Garnacho stunner wins Puskas Award

The Puskas Award for the best men’s goal of the year was won by Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho for his sensational bicycle kick in their 3-0 win at Everton in November 2023.

Mohammed Kudus’ fine solo goal for West Ham in the Europa League against Freiburg was also nominated.

Until this season the award covered all football but a new Marta Award now covers the women’s game.

“I’m very proud to win this award,” said Argentine Garnacho in a pre-recorded interview.

“It’s a proud moment for me and my family. It was a special goal and I will always remember it.”

Ancelotti named coach of the year
The coach of the year was Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti, who led the Spanish giants to the Champions League and La Liga titles last season.

The 65-year-old Italian won the award, which has been running since 2016, for the first time.

“I want to share this with the club, with my president and with my players, those of the best club in the world,” Ancelotti said.

Ancelotti also won the equivalent award at the Ballon d’Or – meaning Xabi Alonso was not recognised in either for leading Bayer Leverkusen to their first German double.

Most of the previous winners at the Fifa Best Awards have been Premier League bosses – Claudio Ranieri, Jurgen Klopp (twice), Thomas Tuchel and last year Pep Guardiola.

Pele’s Son Edinho Acquitted Of Drug Trafficking Charges

Pele's Son Edinho Acquitted Of Drug Trafficking Charges

Football legend Pele’s son has been acquitted of drug trafficking charges after he was previously linked to a drug gang despite him strenuously denying being part of it.

Nine defendants were named in the ruling by the courts of Praia Grande, on the coast of Brazil’s state of Sao Paulo, and the son of football legend Pele, Edinho, was the only one acquitted, local media reported on 3rd December.

Edinho, whose full name is Edson Cholbi do Nascimento, 54, is a Brazilian football manager who used to play as a goalkeeper. He was arrested along with 16 other people in 2005 for money laundering and drug trafficking and was jailed.

The courts in Praia Grande acquitted the former goalkeeper due to lack of evidence that he was part of the gang, sentencing Naldinho to 25 years in prison in absentia.

The defendant disappeared on December 29, 2008, while in an open regime. Like Edinho, he was also sentenced to 33 years in prison for money laundering from drug trafficking.

Some believe that Naldinho was killed while others think that he escaped, according to local media.
