Amorim Names Starting XI To Take On Ipswich
Ruben Amorim has named his first starting line-up as Manchester United’s new head coach, ahead of our Premier League match at Ipswich Town.
The Portuguese’s XI has been greedily anticipated in recent days, due to widespread speculation that he would set the Reds up in a three-at-the-back system.
From the names on the team sheet, it’s not absolutely clear that Amorim will do that at Portman Road, where the contest will kick off at 16:30 GMT.
But the big news is that Marcus Rashford starts up front, while Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are present on the bench for the first time this season, after long absences.
In central defence, Matthijs de Ligt is partnered by Jonny Evans, while Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui also start.
Kobbie Mainoo is fit to return on the bench, but from the first whistle Casemiro and Christian Eriksen will shoulder responsibility for the centre of Amorim’s midfield.
Both Alejandro Garnacho and Amad also make the XI, while Bruno Fernandes captains what looks to be a really positive, attacking first line-up from our new head coach.
United: Onana, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Fernandes (c), Rashford, Eriksen, Amad, Garnacho, Casemiro, Dalot, Evans.
Substitutes: Bayindir, Malacia, Shaw, Mainoo, Mount, Ugarte, Antony, Hojlund, Zirkzee.
