The Goals, Pace and Flips: Inter Milan Celebrate Obafemi Martins At 40

Energy, technique, speed and a pinch of madness are the things to he brought to the world stage every time he scored a goal: an explosive mix of qualities that allowed Obafemi Martins to be loved by so many Nerazzurri fans.

After arriving in 2001, Oba Oba began his career with the Primavera, a side that he won a league title and Torneo di Viareggio with before being moved up to the First Team. He made his debut in December 2002, scoring the first of his 49 goals for the Nerazzurri on 19 March 2003 against Bayer Leverkusen in Champions League. On that occasion, he celebrated for the first time with an amazing series of flips, a celebration that became his trademark.

Milan, Juventus, Arsenal, Benfica: these are just some of the big sides that he has scored against in some brilliant clashes, especially in the Champions League, a competition in which he has scored 10 times (one of them coming in the qualifying rounds).

He was a rapid forward with brilliant technical ability, in his five years for the Nerazzurri, Martins made 134 appearances, winning a Scudetto, two Coppa Italia’s, and a Supercoppa Italiana, giving a decisive edge to a talented group of players, which gave way to a long number of successes.

Today Obafemi Martins celebrates his 40th Birthday and receives the best of wishes from FC Internazionale Milan and all of the Nerazzurri on this special day!
