Lagos FA To Partner Netherlands In Training Football Coaches
Lagos State Football Association board members led by Hajji Gafar Olawale Liameed, Friday, at the Lagos FA Secretariat, Surulere reached an agreement with representatives of football coaches from Netherlands, who are in Lagos for another edition of the annual Greensprings/Kanu Summer Football Camp.
Speaking during the visit of Greensprings Summer camp team led by Project manager, Mr. Uche Ogbu, Hajji Liameed requested for a partnership with Netherlands to organise a coaching seminar for Lagos state football coaches.
Adding that the FA in partnership with Netherlands, intends to have a free coaching clinic for over 2,000 coaches. He also disclosed that the best coach in Lagos State, would be sponsored for a 6-week international coaching clinic in Netherlands.
Reacting to the request, head of the coaches from Netherlands, Jerino Lekatompessij, commended Lagos FA for the idea, stating that it is such partnership, they want. And they are willing partners for such ideas.
Meanwhile, following the request of Ogbu, who on behalf of Greensprings, asked the State FA to sponsor 10 kids to the summer camp in celebration of its 10th anniversary, Liameed, responded that because of cash constraints, he would personally sponsor two kids, while three other board members would sponsor a kid each, at the total cost of N1.4m.
Thirty coaches are expected to attend the ‘Train the Trainers,’ out of which 12-15 coaches will be selected for the summer camp, stating April 7-11,2024, and with a gala nite for the scholars chosen.
