Man City vs Arsenal: Gunners legend hails Ben White’s crucial role
As Arsenal prepares for a pivotal showdown against Premier League title contenders Manchester City, club legend Lee Dixon has underlined the importance of Ben White in the upcoming encounter.
White’s recent performances have garnered praise, with the versatile defender proving instrumental in Arsenal’s attacking endeavours after transitioning to a new role this season.
With just one point separating Arsenal from Pep Guardiola’s side in the league standings, Sunday’s clash at the Etihad Stadium holds immense significance as the title race enters its final stages.
While Liverpool remains a formidable challenger in the title race, Guardiola’s acknowledgement of Arsenal as a significant threat underscores the intensity of the impending battle.
Ahead of the high-stakes encounter, Dixon commended White’s development and outlined the significance of his contributions to the team’s tactics.
According to Dixon, White’s positional understanding and willingness to venture forward have significantly bolstered Arsenal’s attacking threat, adding that his partnership with winger Bukayo Saka has been particularly noteworthy, with the duo displaying a remarkable understanding on the pitch.
“When I watched him at Leeds and Brighton, I always thought he had more potential going forward than we saw of him,” Dixon told Metro UK.
“He looks like he enjoys going forward, which he didn’t in the past, it wasn’t natural for him. I think we are seeing the best of him right now and he is playing so well. Playing full-back, the link-up with your winger is key, and him and Bukayo Saka seem to be telepathic at the moment.”
