Ex-Players Set To Honour Late National Coach Broderick In Benin
The Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City will be agog with the display of former Nigeria International against former Bendel Insurance players in honour of late Coach Sebastian Broderick.
The novelty match for the 1985 Under 17 World Cup winning Coach and former Bendel Insurance player will be kickoff by 8am this Friday.
Some notable players who were discovered under the late coach, who was fondly called Sebera during his days as the Coach of the Nigeria Golden Eaglet in 1986-89 are Victor Ikpeba, Benedict Akwuegbu, Uduka Ogbade, Nasiru Jubril, Jonathan Akpobore, Binebi Numa, Baldwin Bazuaye, Tony Poropo and Godwin Opara to mention a few.
The Vigil Mass that was hosted at the St. Paul Catholic Church was attended by top players and football administrators such as former Super Eagles Coach Fani Amu, Edema Fuludu, Peter Nieketien, Mr. Brown Ogbefun and others.
Brodericks-Imasuen Sebastian, 85, was diagnosed with Ischemic stroke in December 2022 and had been receiving treatment before he took his last breath.
His remains will be laid to rest in his personal residence in Benin today.
