Chuba Akpom has been deemed surplus to requirements at Ajax with the Dutch side, Ajax Amsterdam prepared to sell him in the summer.
This comes after Ajax coach John van ‘t Schip revealed his plans to integrate some of the club’s youth players into the first team at the expense of last year next season according to Algemeen Dagblad.
Akpom was brought in to compete with Brian Brobbey for a place in the starting lineup but has failed to justify the £12.2m fee Ajax paid Middlesbrough for his services.
The 28-year-old joined Ajax from English Championship club Middlesbrough last summer for £12.2m but has failed to impress so far despite scoring 10 goals in 21 appearances averaging a goal every 79 minutes.
